Maryland MGMA is very excited to offer a six-part Body of Knowledge boot camp series that will educate and help prepare our members to tackle the everyday challenges practice managers face. So no matter if your interest is preparing for the CMPE exam or just a thirst for the general knowledge to help you run a successful medical practice, this series is for you.

Risk and compliance management in a medical practice involves maintaining a program to provide an overall safe environment, prevent or minimize adverse events, and comply with federal and state laws and regulations.

Compliance programs for medical practices need to be tailored to the size of the practice, the history of compliance issues, and the type of risks the practice faces based on the complexity of services provided.

Learning objectives for the presentation:

  • Strategies to find applicable regulations
  • Resources to help ensure compliance
  • Specific steps needed to establish a compliance program
  • Identify the elements required for an effective compliance program
  • Recognize the benefits of a compliance program
